No role noun in the headline. Every candidate promises something the product refuses, and one of them just got a concrete, German, market-specific reason to avoid.
Stiftung Warentest and Ernährungs Umschau have already published, in public, the exact failure emealia’s architecture avoids — full detail on the tech page. “AI” in a German nutrition headline is not neutral vocabulary any more; it is the phrase the country’s most trusted consumer institution just told people to be careful of. “KI” can still appear in store metadata (findability), never in the hero (trust) — those are different decisions now, not the same one.
| Noun | Why it fails | Occupied? |
|---|---|---|
| Coach | Claims expertise the founder doesn’t have; emealia’s suggestions are bounded generation, structurally not coaching. | MyFitnessPal AI Coach, Cronometer Crono Coach, AteMate, Simple’s Avo — title-grade real estate, maximally contested. |
| Guide | Implies leading someone along a route already chosen — inverts “meets you where you are.” | Lightly. |
| Companion | Implies a person-like presence; overstates a once-a-day paragraph. | Alma since Feb 2025, Nutrito, MyNetDiary’s “GLP-1 Companion”; statutorily defined in CA and NY. |
| Tracker | Concedes the incumbent’s scoreboard. | Totally, and the highest-volume term in the category. |
Ernährungsbegleitung — one morpheme from the established category term, unregulated, and honest: to accompany, not to advise. Begleiter works freely in prose and is already in the wild — a competitor App Store listing (Count.kcal) describes itself as a “perfekte Begleit-App” unprompted. The English equivalent is not a noun at all: emealia’s own line, “meets you where you are”, is a verb phrase, which is why it survives every objection raised against every noun tried.
Every other app puts a scoreboard over your day. emealia writes the day down instead. A calorie budget is a non-diegetic HUD — a number overlaid on your life, invisible to anyone but you, existing to score you against someone else’s target. A diary is part of the life it records.
| Say | Not |
|---|---|
| “emealia meets you where you are.” | “AI nutrition companion” |
| “Every other app puts a scoreboard over your day. emealia writes the day down instead.” | “No calorie counting!” |
| “The numbers come from official national food data — not from a guess.” | silence on provenance |
| KI / Ernährungstagebuch in store metadata only | either word in the hero |
